Little Indian Plaza Inauguration In Surrey
06 Oct, 2016
The brightly coloured, Little India Plaza is hard to miss while passing through 128th street and 80th Avenue in Surrey. Showcasing the vibrancy of South Asian culture, the plaza will open for public around Christmas and cater to their various shopping and lifestyle needs.
City of Surrey Mayor, Linda Hepner, inaugurated the plaza yesterday and congratulated Gurdev Sandhu, president of Northwest Development, for the “beautiful project and for making this project come to reality in a very short period of time after council decided that a comprehensive zone and this India market area was something that could really sell great and we could build upon and we could actually use it as a tourist destination.”
About 95 per cent of the property in this plaza has been sold and is expected to host 60 tenants, Sandhu told media while talking about the “$15 million” development.
Little India Plaza is being touted as a hub serving everything from food and outfits to dentistry and lifestyle needs. Businesses are viewing this precinct as a long term opportunity to connect with and benefit from the South Asian community.
