BC Chapter of ICAI, Vancouver Inaugurated

The President of The Institute Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Mr. K. Raghu inaugurated the “British Columbia Chapter of ICAI, Vancouver” in a splendid ceremony held on Sunday, November 23rd, in Vancouver.   
 
Before commencement of the inauguration ceremonies, the members of ICAI resident in BC, led by the Chapter Chairman Mr. Vijay Kumar Gupta and Vice Chairman Mr. Deepak Arora, accorded a warm welcome to the Indian Consul and Head of Chancery, Vancouver Mr. R.  Chandarmouli, Mr. K Raghu President, ICAI, Mr. Amit Goyal, Chairman Toronto Chapter of ICAI, Burnaby Councillor Sav Dhaliwal, Executives from financial organisations, dignitaries and Indian business entrepreneurs. 
 
In his welcome address, Mr. Gupta said that international chapters of ICAI are formed for the purpose of providing networking opportunity to Indian accounting professionals, conducting Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs and to remain connected with their ‘Alma Mater’ the ICAI. The BC Chapter is the 24th Chapter of ICAI abroad and the second in Canada. The first being in Toronto, established in 2006, now has about 400 members. One of the aims of the chapter will be to generate goodwill between the accounting fraternities of India and Canada. 
 
Mr. Raghu, President, ICAI, in his inauguration address described the progress that the institute has made and the continuous endeavour that it makes to spearhead changes in the Indian economy, business environment and the social fabric. He also shared his vision and encouraged members to adopt Life Long Learning as their "Mantra," so that their knowledge remains relevant globally. The new Indian government under the dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister wants to expand the horizon of Indian businesses into international markets in developing countries as well as industrialised countries such as Canada and that the Indian professional had much to offer to help bridge this gap.
 
Mr. Chandarmouli, addressing the members, described the various fields of human endeavour in humanities, medicine and technology, where collaborations have been made between Indian and Canadian institutions. Welcoming the establishment of the Chapter, he stated that this was one fine example of creating of a platform for collaborations between India and Canada in the accounting field.  He also conveyed the best wishes of Hon’ble Consul General of India Mr. Ravi Shankar Aisola. 
Councillor Sav Dhaliwal addressed the members and expressed his best wishes to all members in strengthening the cultural bond of Indian professionals in Canada.
 
Mr. Goyal, congratulated members and said that Chapter in British Columbia will create ICAI foot–print from coast to coast.
The inauguration ceremonies concluded with vote of thanks by Mr. Deepak Arora Vice Chairman, followed by entertainment and dinner.
