Asia's first lady loco pilot commands Solapur-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express

Mumbai, March 13 (IANS) Asia's first woman loco pilot Surekha Yadav piloted the new Vande Bharat Express from Solapur to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai on Monday.
On arrival, Yadav was felicitated at by rail officials at platform No. 8 of CSMT, the World Heritage headquarters of Central Railway.
In her brief speech, Yadav expressed her gratitude to the CR for giving her the honour to pilot the new age, state of the art technology encompassed in the Vande Bharat trains.
The train departed Solapur at the right time and reached CSMT five minutes before time.
The train crew learning process involves signal observance, hands on new equipment, coordination with other crew members, observance of all parameters for the successful running of a train.
Hailing from Satara in Maharashtra, Surekha Yadav created history by becoming India's first female train driver in 1988.
For her achievements, she has been honoured with many awards at state, national and international levels.
Selfless service is one of the key ideologies of Sikhism, and Dr Swaiman Singh has undoubtedly been living by this principle every single day. Even his Instagram bio reads — ‘Field doctor. Ultimate goal is to serve. Not charity but solidarity.’
Talk about her incredible philanthropic journey, and with complete humility, she credits it all to her mentor — Bhagat Puran Singhji — the founder of All-India Pingalwara Charitable Society.
Ravi Singh was inspired by one Sikhi ideology in particular – “Sarbat da Bhalla” meaning “well-being for all” – recognising the humanity in us all and reaching out to those in need, regardless of race, religion, borders.
His father was the initial propeller in his pursuit of a career in entertainment, so when he died, an 11-year-old Saraf decided to push forward to honor him.
Throughout his life he took immense pride in his Sikh identity and heritage even headlining a newspaper article in 1957 as “Scientist wears turban and tie”
