  • Simran Khosla: Leading the Charge in Holistic Health and Wellness and Championing the Global Fitness Revolution

Simran Khosla, a viral fitness sensation, full-stack nutritionist and weight-loss coach, has redefined the landscape of health and nutrition with her unique blend of traditional Indian practices and modern science. Known for her catchy social media handle "Butt Like an Apricot," the fitness influencer’s journey from a finance student in India to a global fitness consultant in Texas is a testament to her resilience and innovation. Her authentic approach and commitment to holistic wellness have made her a beacon of inspiration, empowering a diverse, global audience to embrace healthier lifestyles.

Simran's journey began in a corporate job where she witnessed firsthand the health struggles of her colleagues. Realizing that many people lacked the time to visit a nutritionist or gym, she started an online consultancy about nine years ago. This initiative allowed people to access diet plans and workouts from the comfort of their homes. Her move to the USA exposed her to similar challenges among the Indian population there, reinforcing the need for action to tackle the global fitness crisis among the cash-rich and time-poor generation.

The name "Butt Like an Apricot" was born out of a moment of spontaneity. Simran wanted a name that would resonate widely, and while eating an apricot one day, she noticed its resemblance to a butt. The name stuck and became a memorable brand that reflects her playful yet serious approach to fitness.

Simran's South Asian roots have profoundly influenced her approach to nutrition and fitness. She remains committed to traditional ways of eating, focusing on simple, wholesome foods rather than fancy diet trends. This approach, combined with modern nutritional science, has successfully enabled her to “de-glamourize” the concept of health and nutrition. "Traditional practices from our moms and grandparents still work today," she says, emphasizing the timeless value of these methods.

Her holistic wellness philosophy centres on two key principles: eating foods closer to nature and maintaining regular movement through walking, running, weight-lifting, or yoga. She advocates for balance, avoiding extreme diets, and focusing on a balanced meal to maintain health. "Our answers lie in our roots. Don’t overcomplicate fitness and wellness," she advises.

Simran also works to dispel common myths about fitness and nutrition. She emphasizes that a 45-minute workout, 4-5 days a week, is sufficient and that nutrient-dense foods are more important than calorie restriction. While acknowledging that genes play a role in weight loss, she firmly believes that hard work and proper nutrition can significantly alter one’s physique over time.

Leveraging social media has been a key part of Simran's strategy to bridge ancient and modern health practices. For her, educating the masses about the fundamentals of nutrition is crucial.

Simran's authenticity sets her apart as a fitness advocate. She practices what she preaches and maintains a raw, real approach that resonates with people. "People can tell when someone is genuine," she notes.

Her mission is simple – empower people to proactively seek and sustain health and wellness and underscore the importance of integrative nutrition in daily life.

Recently married to former India U19 World Cup-winning captain, Unmukt Chand, advising young female fans across the globe, she concludes, “Balancing family and career is crucial, but I've learned not to obsess over either while being able to find a harmonious balance. Both parts of the puzzle are essential, and it's important not to neglect one for the other but keep a safe distance from the mad rush in your head and the obsession to be best at everything every time, all at once.”

Simran Khosla stands as a testament to the power of authenticity and cultural integration in the realm of health and wellness. As she continues to inspire and educate a global audience, her journey emphasizes the importance of balancing tradition with modernity, and personal ambition with communal well-being. With her eyes set on expanding her impact further, Simran Khosla is poised to continue transforming lives, one apricot at a time.
