Trucks always interested Satnam Singh (Lally) since a young age; in fact he dreamt of owning a truck company someday. Upon migrating to Canada in 1991, he worked as a truck driver for other companies but his focus always remained on starting his own company. This dream came true in 2003 when Sidhu opened his trucking company, Gulzar Transport Inc.
“My father used to own a trucking company back in my home country, India. So this was always my first choice to continue my father legacy,” says the founder and director of Gulzar Transport, whose wife helped turn this vision into reality. Today, Gulzar Transport is popularly known as one of the top trucking companies in Delta and the Lower Mainland.
Gulzar Transport specializes in hauling containers, b-train loads, reefers, step decks, tractors, and dry vans all over Canada and in the US. “We provide transportation services in the Lower Mainland to our export and import customers. We have a container storage and reloading facility. We have three yards which we use for container storage and lumber reloading with two top pick machines at Gulzar Transport,” adds Sidhu, highlighting the services. The company, which started with only two trucks and four drivers, now has a fleet currently consisting of 350 chassis, including 20ft, 40ft, 45ft units and 45-53ft dry vans and 30 reefers, 10 step decks with 85 company-owned and owner operator tractors capable of pulling up to GVW 63,000, and a team of more than 130 employees. Sidhu is quick to add that this growth was not an overnight process. “This is the result of lots of hard work done by everyone who belongs to this company.”

Gulzar Transport is a bonded Canadian/C-T PAT approved carrier and all equipment is maintained in top condition according to government specifications by the service staff on site. “We always believe in a safe work environment and to ensure this, we have membership/subscription of multiple kinds of automobile industries. We regularly attend all the ports/shipping line meetings to learn about the new changes and latest models,” states Sidhu.
Besides Gulzar Transport, Sidhu is the proud owner of two other trucking companies, Jet Speed Transport Ltd. (2006), and Triple S Logistics (2015); a mechanic shop, Long Haul, Triple S Truck & Tire (2015), Gulzar Investment (2006); and the recently-establishedcontainer storage outlet, Gulzar Terminals (2017).
It is Sidhu’s passion and wife’s hard work that has taken the company and its team to the top level. To sum it up, Sidhu says that extensive experience, professional staff, and the use of latest technology have been major contributors to the success of Gulzar Transport.
