Tired at home? Come to office and relax

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 24 May, 2014 06:07 PM
Know why some people find workplace a blessing in disguise and shudder at the thought of spending weekends at home?

The rising demands at home leave many people stressed and they feel better when at work, a fascinating research has revealed.

“The findings are across gender, across education level, across occupation level, so, a pretty strong finding,” said Sarah Damaske, a professor of labour and employment at Pennsylvania State University.

Juggling household chores means a day at the office seems easier in comparison, he added.

For the study, 122 men and women were asked to swab their saliva six times a day for three days to test stress levels.

For most of test participants, cortisol levels were higher at home than at work.

This is because getting kids ready, preparing meals and other household works leave men really tired.

The only exception in the study were high-income workers who had equal levels of stress at work and at home.
