Atheists have more followers on Twitter: Study

Darpan News Desk IANS, 26 Oct, 2014 07:13 AM
  • Atheists have more followers on Twitter: Study
If you happen to be an atheist, joining Twitter would be a good idea as you could share your views with many more like-minded people.

According to a study, Twitter users who identified themselves as atheists in the US had more friends and followers on the micro-blogging site.

Researchers from the Ohio-based Wright State University, the Doha-based Qatar Computing Research Institute and Rutgers University-Camden analysed over 96 million tweets from over 250,000 Twitter users.

The subjects identified themselves as either believers or non-believers on their profile and the research team observed user statistics, including whom they followed and who followed them.

The study is set to be presented at the sixth annual International Conference on Social Informatics in Barcelona, Spain, Nov 10-13.
