Nishan Singh Randhawa from Abbotsford, BC defeated Nicolaas De Lange of South Africa 9-3 and clinched a gold medal for Canada at the Commonwealth Games in 97 Kg freestyle wrestling. 

"As the match went on, I think I picked up the pace a little bit," sai the 24-year-old Randhawa. "Feels amazing. It's been a long road and had a couple injuries along the way. "We're ending off strong. Hopefully we can keep this momentum going into the senior world championship in Serbia."

Jasmit Phulka of Abbotsford, B.C., took bronze medals in the men's 57- and 74-kg divisions.

This is another gold for Canada at the Commonwealth games, after 26-year-old, Amarveer Singh Dhesi, won a gold medal in the 125 Kg wrestling at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. 
 
The Commonwealth Games wrap up on Monday.
