WHL Roundup: Brandon Magee Has Five Assists As Victoria Royals Beat Vancouver Giants

    VANCOUVER — Goals were coming in bunches for the Victoria Royals and Vancouver Giants on Saturday night.
     
    The Royals, led by Brandon Magee's five assists, beat the Giants 7-5 in Western Hockey League action.
     
    Axel Blomqvist scored twice for Victoria (11-10-2) with Brandon Fushimi, Regan Nagy, Taylor Crunk, Austin Carroll and Travis Brown rounding out the attack.
     
    Joel Hamilton had a pair of goals an added an assist for Vancouver (8-12-0). Brennan Menell, Alec Baer and Jackson Houck also found the back of the net.
     
    Coleman Vollrath turned aside 30 shots for the win. Cody Porter made 13-of-17 saves in 33:01 before being pulled for the Giants. Payton Lee made seven saves in 25:45 of relief.
     
    The Royals went 2 for 6 on the man advantage with Vancouver scoring once on two opportunities.

    REGINA — Patrick D'Amico scored the game winner for the Pats over Seattle.
     
    Morgan Klimchuk has the other goal for Regina (11-9-1) which won its third straight.
     
    Luke Osterman had his first of the year in the first period for the Thunderbirds (9-9-3).

    SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. — Simon Stransky had the deciding goal in the shootout as the Broncos edged Prince Albert.
     
    Reid Gardiner struck twice in regulation for Swift Current (11-8-4).
     
    Jordan Harris and Coda Gordon replied for the Raiders (9-13-0).

    BRANDON, Man. — It took eight rounds, but finally Braylon Shmyr found the back of the net in the shootout to lift the Wheat Kings over Medicine Hat.
     
    Colton Waltz and Reid Duke scored in regulation for Brandon (17-4-1).
     
    Steven Owre and Blake Penner supplied the offence for the Tigers (14-4-2).

    SPOKANE, Wash. — Richard Nejezchleb had a three-point night, including two goals, as Tri-City downed the Chiefs.

    Blair Oneschuk, Adam Helewka and Curtis Miske found the back of the net for Spokane (9-7-3).
