VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Whitecaps acquired centre back Diego Rodriguez on a one-year loan with a transfer option from Club Atletico Juventud de Las Piedras of the Uruguayan Primera Division on Wednesday.

The deal is pending receipt of his international transfer certificate, the Whitecaps said in a release.

Rodriguez, 24, made 20 starts with Juventud over the last two seasons.
