Vancouver Canucks Sign 2009 Draft Pick Anton Rodin To One-Year Contract

The Canadian Press, 23 Mar, 2016 11:50 AM
VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Canucks have signed forward Anton Rodin to a one-year contract, the club announced Tuesday.

The 25-year-old's agreement with the Canucks is a one-way deal, which indicates Vancouver expects him to play in the NHL next season.

Rodin scored 16 goals and added 21 assists in 33 games with Brynas IF Gavle of the Swedish Hockey League in 2015-16. The Stockholm native was also named the league's MVP despite missing significant time because of injury.

Selected 53rd overall by the Canucks at the 2009 draft, Rodin collected 14 goals and 27 assists in 111 games with the AHL's Chicago Wolves from 2011 to 2013.

He returned to Sweden after those two seasons, but Vancouver maintained his NHL rights.
