Tendulkar celebrates 41st birthday by voting

Darpan News Desk, IANS, 24 Apr, 2014 11:16 AM
Placing responsibility to nation uppermost, cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar Thursday cast his vote here before celebrating his 41st birthday.

Tendulkar voted in Mumbai's North Central Lok Sabha constituency and tweeted later to his fans: "I have voted, have you? A wonderful start to my birthday, as a responsible citizen of our great nation."

He also posted a photograph which shows him displaying his inked finger.

Meanwhile, amidst the elections vibe in India, Sachin has appealed to all Indians to exercise their votes.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Tendulkar - now a nominated Rajya Sabha member - urged his countrymen not to "underestimate" the power of their vote.

"Every run counts in the game of cricket and every vote counts in an election. Don't underestimate the power of your vote."

Tendulkar said he was now in Mumbai to exercise his democratic right Thursday.

"Hope you play your part - Please cast your vote," the batting genius added.
