Real Madrid close to sealing deal for James Rodriguez

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 22 Jul, 2014 07:03 AM
Spanish football club Real Madrid is expected to confirm the signing of Colombian international James Rodriguez Tuesday.

James, who will cost around 80 million euros from Monaco, will become the third most expensive signing in the club's history after Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, reports Xinhua.

His arrival follows that of German international Toni Kroos, whose arrival at the European champions was confirmed last week.

James is another flagship signing for Real Madrid after he won the "Golden Boot" as the top scorer in the recent FIFA World Cup held in Brazil.

He netted six times, despite Colombia being knocked out of the competition in the quarter-finals and his goal in the round of 16 against Uruguay was selected as the best goal of the tournament.

The Colombian is expected to pen a deal until 2020 and earn around seven million euros a year.

Real Madrid is also close to signing Levante goalkeeper, Keylor Navas, another player who excelled in Brazil with a string of magnificent saves, although Levante president Francisco Catalan commented Monday that the team from the capital would have to pay the full 10 million euros of Navas' buyout clause.
