French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati faced a unique and significant setback during his attempt at the 5.70-meter height when he cleared the bar but clipped it with his pecker. During the opening ceremony, French and English announcers mistakenly introduced South Korean athletes as North Koreans. The error occurred as the South Korean team floated down the River Seine, with the announcers using North Korea's official name. The mistake was compounded when North Korea’s delegation passed by later and used the name correctly. The organizers issued a deep apology for the blunder, highlighting the sensitive division between the two Koreas.

Facepalm: Vinesh Phogat’s rightful silver medal denial

India’s wrestling sensation Vinesh Phogat made history as the first Indian woman wrestler to reach an Olympic final. However, the following morning, she was disqualified after being found 100 grams overweight during the customary weigh-in, despite being within weight limits for her previous match. As a result, she was suspended and denied her previously won silver medal.
