Liverpool striker Luis Suarez was named the Professional Footballers Association's (PFA) 'player of the year' for 2013-14, becoming the first non-European to win the award.
Suarez was Sunday night recognised for scoring 30 goals in the Premier League this season, firing Liverpool to the top of the standings, reports Xinhua.
The Uruguayan was presented with the award at a ceremony here after his side's 0-2 defeat to Chelsea, which means Manchester City can secure the title if they win their three remaining games this season.
Chelsea's Eden Hazard came second in the poll. He won Young Player of the Year. Yaya Toure of Manchester City came in third.
