Lack of sleep kills Chinese soccer fan

    A young Chinese man died after he spent several days without sleep to watch the World Cup matches, currently held in Brazil, according to doctors.
     
    A young man, aged 25, was found Saturday lying dead in front of the television, hours after the end of a game between Spain and the Netherlands, which ended with a landslide 1-5 defeat for the defending champions, reports EFE.
     
    Time difference between Brazil and China is 11 hours, which pushes soccer supporters to stay up all from midnight to 6 a.m., local time, to watch the games.
     
    The doctors attributed the man’s death to his lack of sleep, but have not determined if the cause of death is fatigue or a possible heart attack, according to Xinhua.
     
    Although China are not in the World Cup finals, the sport is immensely popular among Chinese fans. Similar deaths were also recorded in China during 2006 and 2010 World Cups.
