Darpan News Desk, 06 Oct, 2016 02:40 PM
  • Hockey Night in Canada: Punjabi Edition Returns October 15
Bonino! Bonino! Bonino! Hockey Night in Canada: Punjabi Edition, presented by Chevrolet, is back on OMNI Television with 48 regular season NHL games in Punjabi on OMNI 2, OMNI BC, and OMNI Alberta, beginning Saturday, Oct. 15.

“Broadcasting NHL games in Punjabi allows us to deliver authentic experiences, while representing Punjabi culture and passion for the game to audiences,” said Colette Watson, Vice President, TV and Broadcast Operations, Rogers. “This is just another example of the importance of OMNI Television’s second-language programming for Canadians.”

A viral video star from last season’s famous playoff call, “Bonino! Bonino! Bonino!,” host and play-by-play announcer Harnarayan Singh joins fellow analysts Randip Janda, Bhupinder Hundal, and Harpreet Pandher every Saturday night for back-to-back games live from the OMNI Television studios in Vancouver.

“Hockey Night in Canada: Punjabi Edition has become an integral part of Canada’s multicultural identity and a favourite pastime within the community,” said Singh. “Punjabi is the third most-spoken language in Canada and we’re so appreciative that OMNI Television recognizes the opportunity and value in broadcasting our national sport in a diverse matter. We’re growing the game and having fun while at it!”

Hockey Night in Canada: Punjabi Edition broadcasts live every Saturday on OMNI 2, OMNI BC, and OMNI Alberta, and online at omnitv.ca/hockey.
