Canucks' Brock Boeser Taking Student With Down Syndrome To Prom

    Vancouver Canucks’ Brock Boeser is all set to take student Baylee Bjorge, who was born with Down syndrome, to Grand Forks Central’s prom on Saturday night.
     
    Bjorge created a Twitter account and asked Boeser if he would go to prom with her. But Bjorge's mother, Katie Marcotte, shut down her social media accounts, unaware that she had asked Boeser to prom.
     
    Boeser got a phone number for Baylee’s mother from a mutual friend and texted her Tuesday night to see if Bjorge was still available to be taken.
     
    The 20-year-old wasn't planning on going to prom but she and her family quickly found a dress and are returning from vacation in Florida just in time for the big day.
     
    "I'm excited," Bjorge said. "It's amazing."
     
    Boeser, who is Bjorge's favourite player, was drafted in the first round of last year's NHL draft by the Canucks.
