WorkSafe Says Film Company At Fault For Injury To 'Maze Runner' Star

VANCOUVER — An inspector with British Columbia's work safety agency has found a film production company failed to ensure the safety of workers on the set of "Maze Runner: The Death Cure" when actor Dylan O'Brien was injured in March.

A WorksafeBC report says a change to an action sequence was made without a meeting to review those changes, resulting in serious injuries to the star of the series.

The report that was completed in May and redacted to withhold the names of those involved says that Fox US Productions 49 contravened a section of the provincial Workers Compensation Act.

O'Brien was hurt while filming the dystopian science-fiction series at the Cache Creek airport, about 340 kilometres northeast of Vancouver.

Celebrity website TMZ and Hollywood trade publication Variety reported that O'Brien was hit by a car and suffered multiple injuries.

WorkSafe has ordered the company to prepare a notice of compliance report by Wednesday, outlining the steps to be taken to correct the infraction.
