TORONTO — The lawyer for a woman from Newmarket, Ont., who used syringes attached to a caulking gun to inject silicone into women's buttocks says she should be sentenced to time served.
He says Marilyn Ely Reid, now 50 years old, avoided a costly trial by pleading guilty last month to eight counts of aggravated assault endangering life.
He also says Reid is remorseful and her life has been ruined.
The Crown is looking for a sentence of 10 to 12 years.
Reid was arrested in November 2012 when a 28-year-old woman fell ill after receiving injections and needed surgery to have the substance removed.
Several other victims also developed serious health issues from their procedures.
