Woman Walking In Newton Athletic Park Grabbed From Behind: Surrey RCMP Release Sketches Of Sexual Assault Suspect

Darpan News Desk, 24 Jul, 2019 05:54 PM

Surrey RCMP have released sketches of a man wanted for the sexual assault of a woman in Newton Athletic Park on July 9.

The sketches are of the same man but based on two different witness statements.

He's described as a South Asian man in his mid-20s who is about 5'8" tall and has dark facial hair. He was seen wearing a red T-shirt, black shorts, black slippers and black socks.

Police said officers were told a woman was walking through the park “when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown male suspect.”

The woman was able to break free from the suspect, who ran from the area.

Mounties scoured the park with police dogs, they weren't able to locate her attacker.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or, if they wish to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or solvecrime.ca.
