Woman Walked Between Van And Trailer Before She Was Dragged: Vancouver Police

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 23 Oct, 2019 08:01 PM

VANCOUVER - Police say a 24-year-old woman walked between a van and a trailer it was towing before she was dragged for several blocks in downtown Vancouver.

Sgt. Steve Addison says the case is still under investigation, but officers have obtained evidence that the victim walked between the van and trailer as it was stopped at a traffic light.

Police have said previously that the woman was dragged for multiple blocks on Oct. 12 around 12:30 a.m. before the driver came to a stop and realized what had happened.

The driver is from the United States and was arrested then released and police continue to investigate what role, if any, alcohol played in the collision.

An online fundraising page has raised more than $170,000 for the woman, identified by media as Desiree Evancio, who must undergo multiple surgeries to reconstruct her face.

Her sister Ashley Danh did not immediately respond to a request for comment but says on the fundraising page that Evancio may need a prosthetic eye in the future and her left arm will have no mobility while her right leg will have limited mobility.
