Woman To Be Sentenced For Committing Indecent Act On Halifax-Bound plane, Assaulting Officer

The Canadian Press, 14 Jul, 2015 12:24 PM
HALIFAX — A 26-year-old woman accused of committing an indecent act on a Halifax-bound flight is due to be sentenced today.

Alicia Elizabeth Lander had pleaded not guilty to committing an indecent act, assaulting a police officer, committing an act of mischief and causing a disturbance at Halifax Stanfield International Airport on Jan. 24, 2014.

She testified in provincial court in May that she had drunk more than a dozen shots just before and on the flight, and didn't remember what had happened.

A provincial court judge found her guilty on all four counts.

A flight attendant testified that she and a man used a coat to cover their laps to fondle each other.

Jason George Chase was given 18 months' probation and a conditional discharge after pleading guilty to committing an indecent act in connection with the same incident.
