Burnaby RCMP is asking for public assistance in locating a suspect after a woman was sexually assaulted while walking with her two children.

The woman was walking near Humphries Ave. and 18th Ave. in Burnaby around 11:45 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 21 when she was approached by a stranger.

The man attempted to verbally engage with the woman before making an inappropriate comment and groping her. The suspect then hugged the victim before leaving the area.

The suspect is described as:

  • Asian male
  • 5’7”
  • 70-80-years-old
  • Grey hair
  • Balding
  • At the time of the incident he was wearing a red jacket that is believed to be Columbia brand

The victim was not physically injured. She has been offered support.

An extensive video canvass has been conducted in connection to the assault. There have been no reports of similar incidents in the area.

“This sexual assault happened in the middle of the day when the victim was walking with two young children,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj with the Burnaby RCMP. “We want the public to be aware that this has happened. If you have any information on the identity of the suspect in this case, our investigators want to hear from you.”
