Vancouver – A Vancouver Police arrest has led to criminal charges after a woman was robbed while trying to withdraw money from an East Vancouver ATM Saturday night.

The 34-year-old victim was attempting to use a bank machine near Broadway and Commercial around 10 p.m. Saturday when she was approached by a stranger who asked for a cigarette. The victim refused, and the man allegedly shoved her against a wall and demanded money.

The woman fled and called 9-1-1, and VPD officers located the suspect sleeping inside the ATM vestibule. He was arrested for robbery and taken to jail.

Gregory West, 30, has been charged with robbery.
