Woman Killed, Man Faces Charges, In Two Vehicle Crash Near Nanaimo

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 11 Nov, 2015 12:11 PM
NANAIMO, B.C. — A 51-year-old Ladysmith, B.C., woman has been killed in a two vehicle crash on Vancouver Island.

RCMP Const. Gary O'Brien says the collision between two pickup trucks happened at around 7:30 Tuesday night, near the intersection of Yellow Point and Cedar roads, southeast of Nanaimo.

The unnamed victim died before the ambulance reached hospital.

Officers say the 39-year-old driver of the second pickup fled but was located not far away about one hour later.

He was not seriously hurt and remains in custody accused of failing to provide a breath sample and leaving the scene of an accident.

An investigation continues and police want to talk to anyone who may have seen either pickup in the minutes before the deadly crash.
