Woman Killed In Port Alberni, B.C. After Early-Morning Attack

The Canadian Press, 15 Jul, 2015 11:44 AM
PORT ALBERNI, B.C. — A woman has been killed in Port Alberni, B.C., and RCMP in the Vancouver Island city say the case is a homicide.

Insp. Mac Richards says officers responded to a call about an altercation on a city street at about 1 a.m. Wednesday.

When they arrived, they found a critically injured woman who died a short time later in hospital.

Three people have been arrested but names have not been released and charges have not yet been laid.

Richards says there is no risk to the public because it appears the victim knew her attackers and the incident was not random.

He says officers have made progress in determining what happened, and police are asking any witnesses to contact them.
