Woman Injured, Man In Custody, After Violent Attack In Campbell River, B.C.

    CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. — A woman has been seriously injured and a man is in custody following what RCMP in Campbell River describe as a break-in at a home in that east coast Vancouver Island city.
     
    It happened early Monday morning and Staff Sgt. Troy Beauregard says it was not random.
     
    He says police responding to reports of a disturbance entered the home through a newly damaged door and found a screaming, injured woman and a 42-year-old man inside.
     
    The man was immediately arrested the woman was rushed to hospital for treatment of serious wounds, although Beauregard did not name the type of weapon used in the attack.
     
    An RCMP news release says the man was under conditions not to visit the home and needed hospital treatment for injuries suffered during the arrest.
     
    He remains in custody facing numerous charges.
