Woman Faces Criminal Charges After Chase Ends On Prince George, B.C., Ice Floe

The Canadian Press, 15 Mar, 2016 12:21 PM
PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Mounties in Prince George, B.C., had to go with the flow — or the ice floe — when arresting a woman for break and enter, mischief and resisting arrest.

A resident in the nearby community of Miworth called police to report she had interrupted a robbery in her home and that when the female suspect took off she narrowly missed the homeowner, but hit the woman's vehicle.

The suspect's vehicle was found nearby and police called in a tracking dog.

The woman was then found on an ice floe in the Nechako River, where police say she had started a fire on the ice.

Police say she resisted arrest, but was taken into custody without incident.

Twenty-five-year-old Philicity Lafreniere of Prince George faces five criminal charges.
