Mounties in Surrey say a woman has been charged in the weekend stabbing in the city.
They say officers responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck around 2:15 A-M on Saturday, but arrived to find a woman suffering from stab wounds.
Police say the woman was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The R-C-M-P say a 36-year-old suspect was arrested nearby and has since been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
Mounties in Williams Lake, B.C., say a child has died in a plunge through the ice on Tyee Lake, in the province's Cariboo region. Police say it happened Saturday when the utility task vehicle the child was riding on went through the ice.
The British Columbia government is handing out $24 million to more communities that want to improve their walking and cycling infrastructure.
