Woman And Young Child Sought Following Brazen Robbery In Invermere, B.C.

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 08 Sep, 2016 01:20 PM
RCMP in southeastern British Columbia are trying to track a woman who used a young child, possibly her daughter, to help stage a robbery.

Cpl. Grant Simpson says police are always concerned when children are involved and he's confident the woman will be identified.

He says the theft was reported just before Labour Day after the woman and child left a sporting goods store in Invermere, about 250 kilometres west of Calgary.

Staff immediately noticed several expensive items, including a GoPro camera, were missing.

Simpson says it's believed the items were taken by the woman while the child distracted the sales staff.

He also says video from the store reveals the adult may have planned the theft well in advance.

"(She) seemed to be prepared to make off with some goods," he says, adding video surveillance shows the woman carrying pliers as she entered the store.
