Woman, 30, Serving 1st-Degree Murder Sentence Dies In Ontario Prison

The Canadian Press, 07 Jul, 2016 12:51 PM
KITCHENER, Ont. — Correctional Service Canada says a woman serving a sentence for first-degree murder has died in an Ontario prison.

It says Terry Baker was found unresponsive in her cell at the Grand Valley Institution in Kitchener on Monday.

Staff members performed CPR and Baker was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead on Wednesday.

Baker, 30, had been serving an indeterminate sentence since Jan. 12, 2006.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada says it will review the circumstances of the incident.
