Ridge Meadows RCMP is investigating an assault and are appealing to the public for any witnesses who may have observed the incident.

On Tuesday, February 9, between 5:00 pm and 5:30 pm, a cyclist was travelling north bound on 240th Street approaching the intersection at Dewdney Trunk Road, near the Outpost Liquor store, when an altercation occurred between the cyclist and the driver of an SUV.

The alleged suspect, a man driving the SUV, allegedly claimed he was a law enforcement officer before assaulting the cyclist and then left the area. The alleged suspect is described as; white male approx. 5'10" medium build short dark hair approximately 30-35 years old wearing dark grey cargo pants, grey hoodie, a black vest, and hiking style shoes

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a lighter colored (silver, gold or grey) SUV, possibly a VW Tiguan. It is believed two bystanders witnessed this incident however they have not spoken with police.

Bystander #1: White male, glasses, approx. 30-35 yrs old, possible driving a black vehicle, possibly a Dodge Challenger Bystander #2: Female, unknown description.
