Winnipeg Lawyer Maria Mitousi Who Lost Hand In Bombing Describes Frantic Moments After Blast

The Canadian Press, 10 Jul, 2015 01:33 PM
WINNIPEG — The family-law lawyer who survived a bombing at a firm in Winnipeg last week is describing the frantic moments after the blast.

In a statement released by police, Maria Mitousis says she remembers the entire experience and how she immediately tried to assess her condition after the explosion.

She says she checked her teeth and her eyes and was relieved she could still see.

Mitousis lost her right hand in the blast and seriously injured her left.

Police say she has countless injuries to her face, body and legs.

Despite her serious injuries, Mitousis says she will recover and return to the legal profession.

Police have charged the ex-husband of one of her clients with setting the blast.

Investigators say the explosives were packed into a voice recorder and mailed to the law firm.
