Winnipeg Lab Researcher Potentially Exposed To Ebola Virus Cleared After Isolation

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 12 Dec, 2016 12:46 PM
WINNIPEG — A Winnipeg lab researcher who was potentially exposed to the Ebola virus has been cleared to return to work.

The employee was working with six infected pigs at the National Centre for Foreign Animal Disease in early November when he noticed a rip in his protective suit.

The researcher was given an Ebola vaccine and put into isolation for 21 days.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the employee did not show any symptoms during that time and has been cleared to return to work.

The agency says several internal reviews found the lab met international standards.

But the agency says it has tightened rules around protective suits and enhanced training for employees.
