Windy Weather Heading For B.C. South Coast

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 07 Apr, 2017 01:11 PM
VANCOUVER — People living along British Columbia's southern coast are being warned to brace for windy weather.

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Howe Sound, saying gusts will roll in late Thursday night and could toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.

Special weather statements have also been put out for most of Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland as a windstorm moves through the region.

Environment Canada says gusts of up to 80 kilometres per hour are expected on Friday as a strong low pressure system passes to the west of Vancouver Island.

West Vancouver Island, Victoria and the southern Gulf Islands are expected to be buffeted by the winds Friday morning, while the storm is forecast to move through the South Coast in the afternoon.

The agency says the wind is expected to last through Friday evening.
