Immigration Minister Marc Miller announced today that free replacement documents will be made available to citizens and permanent residents directly affected by last year's wildfires.
Miller says the replacement documents include permanent resident cards, Canadian citizenship certificates, passports and other travel documents that were lost, damaged or destroyed by wildfires.
The special measures are in place until November 30th of this year.
International students, temporary foreign workers and other visitors directly affected by the wildfires with statuses expected to expire by November 30th, are also eligible to restore or extend their status in Canada or replace a status document at no cost.
