'We Took A Selfie Together': Alberta Minister Brian Mason High On Federal Counterpart Amarjeet Sohi

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 09 Nov, 2015 01:54 PM
CALGARY — Alberta's infrastructure minister is singing the praises of his new federal counterpart — former Edmonton city councillor Amarjeet Sohi.

The federal Liberals promised to boost infrastructure spending by almost $17 billion over the next four years, financing the effort through three years of deficits.

Brian Mason told reporters in Calgary that he has known Sohi for years and the two men have a lot in common.

He says both worked as bus drivers for Edmonton Transit, both served on Edmonton council and they are now infrastructure ministers at the same time.

Mason says he's confident they will have a positive working relationship because of a shared interest in transportation issues and making cities, towns and counties work.

Mason announced today the province will spend $119 million to support rehabilitation and construction of roads and bridges in Alberta's smaller municipalities.
