The City of Surrey says it needs help from residents watering tens of thousands of trees this summer.
The city says in a statement that staff are focused on watering newly planted trees, but older trees along Surrey streets - 86 thousand in total - also need watering during the warm weather.
It says trees need to be watered slowly at their base at least twice a week to stay healthy and its encouraging the use of so-called drip-line hoses or buckets with drilled holes in the bottom.
The city says it is offering free buckets with pre-drilled holes to interested residents.
Mounties say scammers advertise a property and explain that a deposit is required to secure the property due to high demand. Communication with the renter usually ends once an e-transfer of funds is sent and without the rental property being seen.
The driver, a 21-year-old man, was arrested for Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Flight from Police. He was treated on scene for minor injuries and released to appear in court at a later date. Speed and dangerous driving were contributing factors in the collision.
