Watchdog Looks Into Police Shooting Of Man In Kelowna, B.C.

    SURREY, B.C. - A shooting involving the RCMP that left a man being treated in hospital is under investigation by British Columbia's police watchdog.

     

    The Independent Investigations Office says it was notified Sunday of the incident in Kelowna.

     

    It says the RCMP reported that an officer attempted to pull over a vehicle early Sunday morning but the driver didn't stop.

     

    The investigations office says the officer followed the vehicle into a dead end street and some kind of interaction occurred leading to shots being fired by the officer.

     

    Police received information a short time later that a man with injuries linked to the shooting showed up in hospital.

     

    The RCMP say the man was being treated for non-life threatening injuries in hospital and has been arrested.

     

    The office is a civilian oversight agency and investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death.
