A major fire engulfs New Westminster's iconic Pier park. "The old pier part of the park will not be salvageable and the big "W" will need to come down.

Thank you to all of the hard working fire fighters at NWFD and other departments that worked hard all night containing the fire," tweeted City of New Westminster Mayor Jonathan Cote.

SkyTrain service, which was shut down between Scott Road station and Columbia, was reopened in time for the Monday morning commute, but Front Street running parallel to the park remains closed from East Columbia to Stewardson Way.
