Wanted High-risk Sex Offender Arrested After Being Spotted On SkyTrain

Darpan News Desk, 11 Feb, 2017 01:56 PM
Thirty-six-year-old Antoine Naskathey was the subject of media release on Friday, after a warrant was issued for breaching a long-term supervision order.

Thanks to the keen eye of a member of the public, Antoine was spotted on a SkyTrain in Burnaby and arrested a short time later without incident.

Naskathey is a two-time federal offender who is currently serving a six-year-long supervision order. Naskathey was convicted in 2001 and 2009 for breaking into homes and sexually assaulting female residents.

At a sentencing hearing in 2003, a judge in the Northwest Territories described Naskathey's record as "horrendous," and the attack of a 59-year-old woman as "brutal" and "a deliverate and persistent act."

The 36-year-old has more than 50 convictions since 1994, "primarily for break-and-enter, theft and property related crimes," police said.

Naskathey had been living in a Vancouver halfway house temporarily, and was to be transferred to a residence in Saskatchewan.
