  • VPD re-arrests woman for second stranger attack in four days

Vancouver – Vancouver Police have arrested a woman for the second time this week, after officers observed her randomly assaulting people in the city’s Strathcona neighbourhood.

VPD officers were on patrol when they spotted the suspect randomly kicking and punching people as she walked near Main Street and National Avenue on Saturday afternoon. After arresting the woman, the officers were approached by a 26-year-old man who said he’d also been assaulted by the woman. Two other victims were identified, but told police they didn’t want to participate in a court process.

Samantha Towedo, 38, is now charged with one count of assault in connection with Saturday’s incident in Strathcona.

Towedo is also charged with assault in connection with an incident that occurred February 1 near Marine Gateway, in Marpole. In that incident, a 23-year-old woman was allegedly punched in the face when she declined to give a cigarette to a stranger.
