VPD on lookout for SUV occupants

  • VPD on lookout for SUV occupants

Vancouver Police are looking for the occupants of an S-U-V that was in the area where Japanese chef Wataru Kakiuchi was fatally stabbed early on June 5th.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and charged with second-degree murder less than a week after the stabbing in the city's Downtown Eastside.

But police say the people inside the S-U-V that drove through the area shortly before Kakiuchi was killed might have seen something that could help the investigation.

Police say they believe those inside the dark-coloured vehicle may have witnessed an altercation without realizing it was related to a murder, and they're asking anyone with information to come forward.

Canada has spent $9 million for a luxury condo in Manhattan to be used as the official residence for its consul general in New York. Global Affairs Canada says a previous New York City residence purchased in 1961 isn't up to code and doesn't meet the department's standards, but won't say what is being done with it.
