VPD Looking For Car Involved In Granville Street Bridge Hit And Run

14 Sep, 2017 12:51 PM
Vancouver Police are appealing to the public to help locate a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run on the Granville Bridge on August 6th. Officers have narrowed their search to a 1992-94 Toyota Camry.

At around 2 a.m., just hours after the final night of the fireworks, a 22-year-old man was walking in traffic when he was hit by a vehicle driving southbound in the far left lane of the Granville Bridge. The man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. He has since been released and continues his rehabilitation.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop following the collision. Based on evidence collected at the scene, the corner portion of the front driver’s side headlight of the 1992-94 Toyota Camry was damaged in the collision.

“The evidence left at the scene by the early 1990s Toyota Camry leaves little doubt the occupants knew they hit something,” says Constable Jason Doucette. “With the information about the damaged headlight, and the vehicle make and model, we are hopeful someone will come forward to help us figure out what happened.”

Investigators from the VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit would like occupants of the vehicle to contact them to help determine what took place, and are asking the driver, or anyone with information about this incident, to contact them at 604-717-3012.
