VPD identify suspects in assault

Darpan News Desk Vancouver Police, 29 Aug, 2022 11:25 AM
  • VPD identify suspects in assault

Vancouver – Vancouver Police have identified a number of suspects in a violent assault captured on video last month on Commercial Drive.

“Investigators began to receive tips from the public as soon as the video was released, including from a family member of one of the suspects, who has been identified as a young person,” says Constable Jason Doucette. “We are confident that all of the suspects have been identified and will be held accountable for their role in the attack”.

The attack occurred outside a convenience store near Commercial Drive and East 10th Avenue in the early hours of July 31. Shortly after midnight, a 42-year-old man stopped to buy a slurpee after celebrating Pride Week events downtown. There was a brief verbal confrontation between the man and another person who was waiting in line, and when the victim left the store he was jumped by three men.

The investigation continues and no arrests have been made.

Investigators are still asking anyone who has information about the attack, or has dash-cam video, to contact Vancouver Police
