VPD arrests West End bike thieves

  • VPD arrests West End bike thieves

Vancouver – Vancouver Police arrested two men after several bikes were stolen from a West End apartment building on Monday.

“This is another example of the extreme lengths some offenders will go to in order to commit crimes,” says Constable Tania Visintin. “It shows that even when people take steps to protect their property, some thieves will stop at nothing.”

In the early hours of October 25, several suspects broke into an apartment building near Nelson and Bidwell streets, using tools and suction cups to quietly remove the glass to gain entry. They then removed several bikes that were being stored inside the building. Vancouver Police immediately launched an investigation.

“After security footage from the building was shared by a media outlet on Wednesday, someone who recognized the suspects called Vancouver Police,” adds Constable Visintin. “Thanks to the tip from the public, officers were able to track down the suspects and recover the bikes.”

Two men in their 30s have been arrested.  The investigation remains active and ongoing.
