The Canadian Press, 26 May, 2016 12:10 PM
CLARESHOLM, Alta. — Another person has been charged for allegedly posing as a Fort McMurray wildfire evacuees.

RCMP in Claresholm, Alta., say they got a complaint on May 12 from Family and Community Support Services about a couple that appeared to be pretending to be fire evacuees.

Police say an investigation found the couple had never actually lived in Fort McMurray and had no ties to Alberta.

Mounties say residents of Claresholm gave the couple a play to stay, clothes, meals and bought work boots.

Thirty-nine-year-old Jamie Lynn Cox, of Victoria, is to appear in Fort McLeod court on June 1 on five counts of fraud under $5,000.

Darryl Rondeau, who is 39 and also of Victoria, pleaded guilty Wednesday to fraud under $5,000 in Fort McLeod court and was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
