Victim Seriously Injured After Shooting In Richmond Neighbourhood

, 08 Aug, 2017 12:03 PM
One person has been hospitalized after gunfire rang out in a Richmond residential neighbourhood early Tuesday morning.

Police say it happened shortly before 6 a.m. One person was hit and taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

“This is an active and unfolding investigation,” says Acting Corporal Adriana Peralta. “We want to stress to the public that we take their safety seriously and have engaged every available resource to investigate this incident and ensure their safety.”

It’s unclear if this is a targeted hit or linked to any other gun violence in the Lower Mainland recently, including two targeted shootings of young people in Abbotsford over the BC Day long weekend.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Richmond RCMP at 604.278.1212 or CrimeStoppers at 1.800.222.8477 (TIPS).
