Vancouver resident Rajan Raj couldn’t hold back tears after his $500K Lotto Max win

Rajan Raj couldn’t hold back his tears while telling his brother he won $500,000 playing Lotto Max from the October 21, 2022 draw.

“I was in the same store where I bought the ticket,” recalled Raj, who shared a Maxmillions prize from the draw with another winner in Ontario. “I checked a few tickets and they were small wins, then I checked the winning ticket and I was sweating.”

Raj first told his brother of his win, and they were both overcome with joy and, “cried a lot.”

The Vancouver resident, who enjoys music and plays with a group, purchased and validated his ticket at Urban Choice Market on Davie Street in Vancouver.

On how it feels to win? “It’s a dream come true! I will celebrate with my close family and some friends and might plan something for next summer.”

So far in 2022, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $157 million from Lotto Max.

At 7:30 p.m. on July 6, a 24-year-old woman reported she had been sexually assaulted while on the escalator at the Granville SkyTrain Station by a suspect who ran away. The B.C. government says in a statement the Facilities Bargaining Association, which represents about 60,000 people delivering health services throughout the province, has ratified a new contract. It says the nine-union association is led by the Hospital Employees' Union, which represents about 93 per cent of the health workers covered by the agreement.
